TekGroup has been named Business of the Year National Winner 2026 for Construction Growth Excellence by Innervision Media, recognising the company’s remarkable expansion from a specialist flooring distributor into one of the UK’s leading integrated construction materials groups. The award celebrates TekGroup’s sustained growth, strategic investment, customer-focused innovation, and unwavering commitment to delivering complete construction solutions that help projects succeed nationwide.
Operating across insulation, acoustics, screeds, underfloor heating, drylining, passive fire protection, roofing products, membranes, bespoke routed boards and specialist construction materials, TekGroup has built a reputation that extends far beyond supplying products. By bringing together specialist distribution, manufacturing, technical expertise and nationwide logistics under one organisation, the business provides customers with an end-to-end service that combines reliability, technical knowledge and operational excellence.

Reflecting on what sets TekGroup apart within the construction sector, Daniel Gill, Group Sales & Marketing Director said:
“TekGroup stands out because we offer far more than product supply. We combine specialist distribution, manufacturing, technical expertise and nationwide logistics within one group, giving customers a level of control, flexibility and support that is difficult to replicate.”
That philosophy underpins every aspect of the organisation. Alongside distributing leading third-party brands, TekGroup has developed its own specialist product ranges through businesses including Tekcem and Tekwarm, allowing customers to benefit from integrated support spanning specification, design, manufacturing, delivery and installation guidance.
The company has also continued to strengthen its logistics capability through significant investment in warehouse capacity, stockholding and a modern nationwide vehicle fleet equipped with mechanical offload facilities. These investments enable dependable deliveries directly to merchants, contractors and construction sites across the UK, even where challenging site restrictions exist.
Rather than viewing logistics simply as transportation, TekGroup sees it as a competitive advantage that helps customers maintain momentum on critical construction projects by ensuring the right products arrive at the right place and time.
The company’s strategy has evolved considerably over recent years in response to changing customer needs and a rapidly shifting construction market. Originally specialising in flooring products, TekGroup recognised growing demand for broader technical solutions and transformed into a fully integrated organisation encompassing manufacturing, specialist screeds, underfloor heating, bespoke CNC production, logistics and technical services.
This evolution has been supported by substantial investment across manufacturing facilities, product development, digital platforms, warehouse infrastructure, technical resources and CRM systems. At the same time, the business has strengthened its partnerships with builders’ merchants by providing dependable stock availability, responsive pricing, nationwide delivery and technical support.
Rather than pursuing expansion for its own sake, every strategic decision has focused on creating sustainable growth while preserving the customer relationships, service standards and company culture that established TekGroup’s reputation.
The company’s identity has evolved alongside its growth.
Originally trading as Tekfloor, the business name reflected its specialist expertise in flooring systems. However, as operations expanded into insulation, acoustics, underfloor heating, logistics, bespoke manufacturing and wider construction solutions, the original name no longer represented the full scope of the organisation.
The transition to TekGroup became a natural progression, creating an identity that better reflected a connected group of specialist businesses working together under one shared vision while allowing respected brands such as Tekcem and Tekwarm to retain their own specialist identities.
The company has created career opportunities across sales, manufacturing, warehousing, transport, administration, technical services and management, with many employees progressing into increasingly senior roles as the business has grown.
Its family-business culture remains one of its defining characteristics, extending well beyond ownership. Multiple generations, husbands, wives and other family members work throughout the organisation, creating a close-knit culture reinforced by company-wide family events attended by more than 200 employees and relatives.
TekGroup’s wider economic contribution also extends throughout the construction supply chain by helping merchants, contractors and installers complete projects through reliable stock availability, technical expertise and dependable logistics, while continued investment in facilities, vehicles and manufacturing equipment supports employment and supplier confidence throughout the region.
The organisation believes its people remain its greatest competitive advantage.
When recruiting new employees, attitude consistently outweighs technical experience. TekGroup values individuals who demonstrate accountability, customer focus, adaptability, teamwork and respect, believing that technical skills can be developed, while commitment to customers and colleagues must come naturally.
The company encourages employees to take ownership of challenges, embrace continuous improvement and work collaboratively across departments to deliver the highest standards of service. Those who combine ambition with humility and a willingness to learn are viewed as the future leaders of the organisation.
The foundations of today’s business can be traced back more than thirteen years to founder Steve Foster’s ambition to create a specialist building materials company built around technical expertise, dependable stockholding and genuinely personal customer service.
Following more than twenty-five years within the construction materials sector, including senior leadership roles at major national distributors, Steve recognised an opportunity to establish a more agile organisation capable of making quicker decisions, maintaining closer customer relationships and responding rapidly to challenges.
The launch of Tekfloor centred on a simple principle: understand customers, stock the right products and always deliver on commitments.
As the business expanded, Steve recognised that continued growth required additional financial expertise and strategic leadership. This led to Adam Wiszniewski joining the organisation, bringing investment together with extensive commercial and financial experience gained through senior leadership roles with companies including Lafarge, alongside his background as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG.
Together, Steve and Adam created a highly complementary leadership partnership. While Steve continued focusing on supplier relationships, purchasing, pricing, operational performance and customer engagement, Adam strengthened financial governance, reporting, strategic planning and long-term commercial discipline.
This partnership has helped transform TekGroup from a business generating approximately £1 million turnover in its first year to more than £50 million today, while maintaining profitability, strong cash management and the customer service standards on which the company was founded.
Alongside this impressive financial growth, the business has continually reinvested in people, manufacturing equipment, warehouse facilities, specialist product development, digital technology, nationwide logistics and proprietary product brands including Tekcem and Tekwarm.
One of the defining milestones in TekGroup’s journey was the transition from Tekfloor to TekGroup.
Far more than a rebranding exercise, the move represented a strategic shift towards becoming an integrated construction materials group capable of combining manufacturing, technical expertise, logistics and specialist product development under one unified organisation.
The continued growth of Tekcem and Tekwarm, alongside investments in digital platforms, production capability, delivery vehicles and people, reflects that long-term vision.
Equally significant has been the personal development of employees who joined the company during its early years and now lead departments, teams and key customer relationships, demonstrating that TekGroup measures success by the opportunities it creates for its people as much as by commercial performance.
“Success also means retaining our values. As TekGroup expands, we must not lose the accessibility, accountability and personal relationships that helped build the business. Becoming bigger is relatively straightforward; becoming bigger while continuing to care is the real challenge.”
For TekGroup, success extends beyond turnover. It is measured through profitability, customer retention, delivery reliability, manufacturing efficiency, operational consistency and the quality of long-term customer relationships.
Equally important is building a workplace where employees develop rewarding careers, customers continue to place their trust in the business and the organisation remains strong for future generations.
By combining specialist expertise, manufacturing capability, nationwide logistics, continuous investment and a people-first culture, TekGroup has established itself as one of the UK’s most respected integrated construction materials providers. Its Business of the Year National Winner Award for Construction Growth Excellence recognises not only remarkable commercial achievement but also a business that continues to invest, innovate and deliver lasting value across the UK construction industry.
