Amanda Charles Recognised for Innovation & Leadership in Holistic Psychology & Consciousness

The Psychic Psychologist receives the Inspirational Women in Business 2026 Award for a distinctive approach bringing psychology, intuition and consciousness together.

Amanda Charles, founder of The Psychic Psychologist, has been recognised with the Inspirational Women in Business Award for Innovation & Leadership in Holistic Psychology & Consciousness, UK 2026, celebrating an established career in psychology alongside a willingness to explore a broader and often unconventional understanding of human experience.

A Chartered Counselling Psychologist, Amanda has been running a successful private practice since 2001. Awarded Chartered status by the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, her professional work is grounded in regulated psychological practice and extensive experience supporting a wide range of clients.

Throughout a career spanning more than two decades, Amanda has previously provided consultancy services for charities, GPs, insurance companies, councils and secondary schools across Surrey and Berkshire, while supervising and supporting other professionals within the field. Growing demand has since taken the practice beyond the local community, with online sessions reaching clients internationally.

Professional development has remained central throughout this journey. Qualifications and training include a Post-MSc PGDip in the Practice of Counselling Psychology, an MSc in Counselling Psychology, BSc (Hons) Psychology and training across hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, mindfulness, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Technique, NLP, eating disorders and obesity, supervision and trauma-related practice.

Yet it is the relationship between this extensive psychological background and a lifelong interest in intuition and consciousness that has shaped The Psychic Psychologist.

From childhood, Amanda recalls experiencing an unusually strong sense of intuition and sensitivity to people, emotions and environments. Initially sceptical of experiences that appeared to sit outside conventional scientific explanation, acceptance developed gradually through years of personal exploration, training and questioning.

Over approximately 20 years, this exploration has included Reiki, shamanic energy medicine training in Chile with Dr. Alberto Volliodo of the Four Winds Society, and with the Q’ero shamans of Peru. Psychic development and advanced mediumship training, including study with renowned medium Gordon Smith, followed. Rather than positioning intuitive practice as an alternative to psychology, Amanda’s work explores how different perspectives on human experience might contribute to greater self-understanding.

“I’d far rather teach people to access their own intuition than have them look to someone outside themselves for answers.”

This philosophy is an important distinction within The Psychic Psychologist. Psychic readings and mediumship are not offered as services. Instead, the emphasis is placed on helping individuals develop greater awareness of themselves, their experiences and their own internal resources.

Amanda’s scientific background has also encouraged continued questioning rather than unquestioning acceptance. Experiences described as psychic or paranormal are approached with curiosity alongside an acknowledgement that not every aspect can currently be readily explained or measured.

The concept behind The Psychic Psychologist ultimately brings together what can initially appear to be opposing worlds: regulated psychological practice and a wider exploration of intuition, spirituality and consciousness.

For Amanda, however, both share an important objective: reducing suffering and helping people develop a more connected and fulfilling relationship with themselves and their lives.

“The combination of these approaches brings together greater possibility and enhanced potential to alleviate suffering and provide a more fulfilled, purposeful and aligned life.”

Mindfulness provides one example of how approaches with roots in spiritual traditions have entered mainstream psychological practice. Mindfulness-based interventions, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, have become established within modern therapeutic settings, demonstrating how previously separate perspectives can sometimes develop meaningful connections.

This willingness to explore such connections sits at the heart of Amanda’s work.

Having worked with thousands of clients, a recurring theme identified throughout the practice is disconnection. Trauma, depression, difficult relationships, learned patterns, low self-worth and a lack of purpose can all contribute to people feeling separated from their sense of self and from meaningful relationships with others.

The Psychic Psychologist considers wellbeing across psychological, physical, emotional, relational and spiritual dimensions. Through programmes, retreats, workshops and coaching, the approach combines psychological knowledge with intuitive and consciousness-focused practices to encourage self-awareness, connection and personal development.

Amanda’s work has also reached a wider audience through publishing. After winning the grand prize in the Hay House Writers’ Workshop for the UK and Europe, Amanda secured a publishing contract with Hay House. The Psychic Psychologist was published in 2024 and went on to become a multi-award-winning No.1 international bestseller. The book received the Nautilus Silver Award in Psychology / Mental and Emotional Wellbeing, an award programme that has also recognised works by His Majesty King Charles III and the Dalai Lama, alongside winner and finalist placings across four categories at the International Book Awards.

A long way from the early clinic days in Esher, Surrey, Amanda is now sought internationally to train and speak on a new paradigm in psychology. Speaking appearances have featured Amanda alongside names including Dr Joe Dispenza, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra and Dr Gabor Maté, while in 2025 Amanda was voted one of the top speakers at the Younity Flow Summit, alongside Dr Bruce Lipton and Gregg Braden.

This work has expanded further through The School of Quantum Self Psychology, founded by Amanda to train other practitioners in the methodology developed through years of professional practice and exploration. The School delivers CPD-accredited training internationally, including for PESI UK, one of the largest providers of continuing education for mental health professionals in the UK and Europe.

Amanda is also developing Therappi®, an innovative holistic wellbeing platform designed to bring every aspect of the Self together within one connected system, extending the principles behind this work into an accessible new format.
