Recognised for exceptional client care, bespoke travel planning and a commitment to creating luxury experiences that place responsible tourism at their heart.
Julie Breckon of Earthwise Travel has been recognised with the Client Service Excellence Award in Sustainable Luxury Travel 2026, celebrating her highly personalised approach to travel planning and her commitment to showing that exceptional luxury experiences and more responsible travel can go hand in hand.
For Julie, outstanding client service begins with understanding the person behind the booking. In an increasingly competitive travel industry, where travellers have countless options available online, she has built Earthwise Travel around relationships, trust and a level of personal attention that extends far beyond simply arranging flights and accommodation.

More than 90% of Julie’s business comes through repeat clients and recommendations, demonstrating the importance of those relationships to the continued growth of Earthwise Travel. Whether arranging a honeymoon, anniversary, family holiday or a once-in-a-lifetime journey, she recognises that clients are entrusting her not only with a significant financial investment, but also with experiences that often carry considerable personal meaning.
“Ultimately, I want somebody to feel that I’ve planned their holiday, not simply found a holiday that happens to fit their dates and budget.”
That philosophy begins with listening. Rather than immediately recommending a destination or property, Julie takes time to understand what clients genuinely want from their time away, from how they want to feel while travelling to the seemingly small details that can transform an experience.
Preferences around transfers, wildlife, privacy, family needs or simply the desire to escape the pressures of a demanding working life all help shape the bespoke itineraries she creates.
Her support also continues long after a booking has been confirmed. Julie assists with details including airport parking, lounges, transfers, restaurants and experiences, alongside special assistance and important travel reminders. If something goes wrong while a client is away, she remains a familiar point of contact who can communicate with hotels, tour operators and other suppliers and help identify the most appropriate solution.
Alongside this personal service is a deeply considered approach to responsible travel. Julie has invested extensively in specialist training to ensure the recommendations she makes are informed by meaningful research rather than sustainability claims alone.
She is GSTC trained and Carbon Literacy certified, while Earthwise Travel holds Green Tourism certification. Her work has also received wider industry recognition, including winning Travel Weekly’s Sustainability Champion award and being named a finalist for other responsible travel awards.
For Julie, responsible tourism encompasses much more than environmental policies. When assessing hotels, experiences and suppliers, she considers how tourism benefits local communities, how wildlife is treated, how natural resources are managed and the wider impact visitors can have on a destination.
She is equally clear that responsible travel does not mean pretending tourism has no negative impact. Instead, her approach centres on asking better questions, researching carefully and giving clients the information they need to make more considered choices without compromising the quality of their experience.
“I don’t just want my client’s holiday to make a positive difference to them. Where possible, I want the money they spend to benefit people living in the destination, and I want the choices I recommend to give support to – rather than harm – local wildlife and the environment.”
Julie’s path into the travel industry was shaped by a longstanding passion for geography and tourism. After studying Geography at university, including Travel and Tourism, she spent more than 20 years teaching Geography and Travel and Tourism to young people aged 11 to 18.
She began building her first travel business while still teaching before leaving her final permanent teaching position in 2017, later bringing together her experience in personal service with her growing commitment to responsible tourism through Earthwise Travel.
Although teaching and luxury travel may appear to be very different careers, Julie sees a clear connection between them. Listening, communicating, problem-solving and helping people discover something beyond what they already know remain central to her work today.
That commitment to learning also continues professionally. With greenwashing becoming an increasing concern within travel, Julie continues to invest in training around responsible tourism and sustainability so that the guidance she provides is supported by evidence. At the same time, she is refining the wider client journey, from the initial enquiry and booking process through to departure, travel and the client’s return home.
As Earthwise Travel develops, Julie is determined that growth will never come at the expense of the personalised experience on which the business has been built. She plans to deepen relationships with carefully selected suppliers and partners while focusing increasingly on sustainable luxury travel, particularly for busy professional women and families who value having a trusted expert take care of the details.
Technology may play a growing role in simplifying the administrative side of travel planning, but Julie believes the human relationship will become even more valuable. Her goal is therefore not to process the greatest possible number of bookings, but to build a strong and sustainable business without allowing clients to become simply another booking reference.
Receiving the Client Service Excellence Award in Sustainable Luxury Travel 2026 carries particular significance because it recognises the two areas Julie considers most important to Earthwise Travel: looking after people exceptionally well and encouraging a more thoughtful approach to tourism.
The recognition also reflects a career that has remained centred on making a positive difference to others. Some of Julie’s clients have worked with her for many years, while former pupils she once taught are now adults with careers and families who trust her to arrange their own holidays.
For Julie, that trust remains one of the greatest measures of success.
The Client Service Excellence Award in Sustainable Luxury Travel 2026 recognises Julie Breckon and Earthwise Travel for demonstrating how attentive, highly personalised client service can sit alongside a meaningful commitment to responsible tourism. By combining meticulous planning, continued professional development and a genuine understanding of the people she serves, Julie is helping clients experience the very best of luxury travel while making more informed and thoughtful choices about the journeys they take.
