Katie James, Owner of Hermosa Boutique, Wins Inspirational Women in Business Award

Katie James, owner of Hermosa Boutique, has been honoured with the Inspirational Women in Business Award, recognising her entrepreneurial drive, dedication to her customers, and her growing influence as a businesswoman within the retail industry.

Hermosa Boutique has become a popular destination for affordable, high-quality ladies’ clothing, offering stylish pieces in sizes up to UK 22. The boutique combines the convenience of online shopping with the welcoming atmosphere of an independent boutique, allowing customers to shop online, join the brand’s interactive Facebook Shop Live events, or visit the store in person for a personalised shopping experience.

Katie’s journey into business began long before the boutique opened its doors.

“My journey began very early. I’ve worked since I was 12 years old, and I’ve always had a strong work ethic and a real drive to get stuck in and make things happen,” she explained. “While I was fairly academically gifted, the traditional school and college route just wasn’t for me. I’ve always learned best by doing.”

From a young age, Katie knew she wanted to build something of her own.

“I wanted independence, creativity, and the chance to build something that truly felt like mine,” she said. “That determination, combined with years of hands-on experience, shaped the path I’m on today and gave me the confidence to take that first leap into business.”

 

Today, Hermosa Boutique reflects that ambition. The business offers a carefully curated range of outfits suited to every occasion, from holidays and nights out to special events.

Customers visiting the boutique can enjoy a luxurious changing area above the store, complete with a plush sofa where friends or partners can relax while outfits are tried on in comfort.

The boutique also offers brow waxing and tinting at its lash and brow station, giving customers the opportunity to combine fashion and beauty services in one convenient visit.

Hermosa’s popular Shop Live sessions on Facebook have also played a significant role in the brand’s growth. Through these live events, customers can interact directly with Katie, use exclusive deal codes, take part in weekly competitions and giveaways, and enjoy a lively and engaging shopping experience from home.

“The biggest ingredients behind my success are hard work, consistency, and staying true to who I am,” she said. “I’ve never believed in shortcuts. I show up, I put the hours in, and I genuinely care about what I do and the people I do it for.”

Katie believes that her business is about far more than selling clothes.

“My values have always been about honesty, kindness, and making women feel good about themselves. I don’t just sell clothes – I build confidence, community, and real connections, especially through live selling where people see the real me.”

Her entrepreneurial journey extends beyond Hermosa Boutique. Katie has successfully built and grown multiple businesses, including an award-winning salon, and is now preparing for the launch of Kaliko, a children’s spa and party venue designed to offer a unique and fun experience for families.

“I trust my instincts, stay adaptable, and never stop pushing myself to grow, even when it feels uncomfortable,” she added. “That’s where the real progress happens.”
